    FAQs

Not every SBD item is automatically approved for IPF meets. The IPF only allows supportive gear that appears on its current Approved List, which names specific SBD models like belts, wrist wraps, singlets, and knee sleeves, while regular SBD apparel like shirts doesn’t need approval. Elbow sleeves aren’t approved for use in competition, and lifting straps aren’t allowed on the competition lifts.

SBD sizes their singlets mainly by bodyweight, so start with the weight range on their chart, then adjust one size up if you’re tall for your class or down if you’re short and stocky. When you try it on, aim for a snug but comfortable fit, since in competition you’ll likely be wearing it for many hours, and you don’t want straps digging in or your breathing feeling restricted.

Both sleeves use 7mm neoprene, but the Powerlifting version is made for maximal compression and a tougher, tighter fit, so it feels more supportive on heavy squats but takes more effort to pull on. The Original 7mm sleeve gives strong support with a bit more give, so many lifters use it for regular training, then switch to the firmer SBD apparel option for heavier attempts and meet day.
