A Powerlifting Meet Day Checklist

A meet day can be hectic and the lead up can be stressful. Having a checklist to help remember all the different things to take can be very helpful. We've always made a list the night before when scrambling to get ready. We've taken the time to create a nice checklist that can be reused over and over. You'll find a print out version as well at the bottom of the page!

Meet Day Checklist


Documents

  • Photo ID
  • Membership Card (print or photo on phone) valid date of meet
  • CCES Certificate (print or photo on phone) done within 12 months of meet day
  • Opening attempts in kilograms. Attempts must be in multiples of 2.5kg unless it is a valid record for the level of meet.
  • Either have your rack heights beforehand or get them as soon as you are able to when you get to the venue.

General Supplies

  • Food/snacks. Ensure you have higher carb, lower fat snacks. We often use running gels or gummies since they provide carbs and electrolytes. Having some whole food, like overnight oats, is good for right after weigh in. Having some protein in this is helpful but no need to over eat here.
  • Caffeine/energy drinks. We normally use caffeine pills since they are easy to get in but if you like energy drinks it’s probably good to have a couple. We would take 100mg of caffeine right at the start of squat warm ups. Then after squats are done, and after bench is done. 
  • Wet wipes can be good to help clean baby powder off your legs after lifting before you change back into your street clothes.
  • Barbell clips are nice to have in your bag in case the meet is short on them. 
  • If an international meet, ensure you have your team track suit.

  • Singlet
  • Legal underwear

Squat

  • Belt
  • Squat shoes
  • Socks
  • Knee Sleeves
  • Wrist Wraps
  • T-shirt

Bench

  • Bench shoes
  • Wrist Wraps

Deadlift

  • Deadlift shoes
  • Deadlift socks (must come up to just below your knees)
  • Belt (if different than squat belt)D
